There’s always plenty going on at the Portblue Club Pollentia Resort and Spa with a friendly entertainment team on hand to arrange aerobics, dance classes, Pilates, tennis, volleyball and yoga to name just a few of the activities on offer during the day. In the evenings, catch a show or join in a quiz night. Make sure you book a session at the spa and treat yourself to a hot stone massage, sensation showers or a Turkish bath. Afterwards, chill out by the indoor pool. Everyone is welcome at the Denario buffet restaurant while the Ancora restaurant which is located at the poolside and serves breakfast and dinner is reserved for adults only. The holiday island of Majorca is of course primarily noted for its sun, sea and sunshine but there’s a lot more to see and do away from the beaches. In Puerto Pollensa itself, the Pine Walk that runs along the coastline is a particularly enjoyable way to spend a day under the Mediterranean sun, and not far from the PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort lies the scenic Boquer Valley. A visit to the valley is a must, especially as it contains the ruins of the ancient Roman settlement of Bocchoris. Hiring a car is probably the easiest way to see the island starting with a visit to the island’s capital, Palma. Start at the top of Bellver Castle. Perched on top of a hill, it offers panoramic views of the area below and the mountains rising in the background. Walk along the seafront until you come to the majestic Palma Cathedral and the Royal Palace of L’Almudain. Among other stunning landmarks, remember to visit the surreal Joan Miro Museum, the beautiful buildings around Plaça del Mercat, and the Pueblo Español museum. Outside the capital, you can explore the breath-taking Drach Caves near the town of Porto Cristo. Small boats will take you through lit-up caves where numerous stalactites hang from the ceiling. Also well worth a visit is the small town of Valldemossa where the composer Chopin once lived.
