Located in historic Knossos, near Hersonissos on Crete’s northern coast, the Aldemar Knossos Royal is a complex of blue and white bungalows fronting onto a private beach. Reflecting the ancient traditions of the region, the bungalows are influenced by Minoan-style architecture, with colonnades and flat or low-gabled roofs. As well as easy access to the sandy beach, the resort has luscious, carefully-tended gardens creating a harmonious contrast of atmospheres.
There are three restaurants at the Aldemar Knossos Royal resort: the main restaurant where breakfast is served, the a la carte Artemis Restaurant which serves local dishes and the Fontana Amorosa gourmet restaurant which offers Mediterranean cuisine and fine wines.
A comprehensive recreational programme includes Greek dancing lessons, cooking lessons, and all kinds of fun and games. Children are especially well catered for. There are two outdoor kids’ pools (one a seawater pool) and one with a water slide. There is an outdoor play area for children and a daily kids’ club. Resort facilities include a tennis court, fitness centre, table tennis, mini-golf and free Wi-Fi.

Hersonissos is one of the most popular destinations in Crete. It boasts three wonderful sandy beaches, two waterparks and an array of restaurants and lively nightspots along the coastline. Originally a port town, tourism has helped Hersonissos develop into what it is today. Now, as well as restaurants, hotels like Aldemar Knossos Royal, bars, and a host of tourist attractions, there many activities available to try, from jet-skiing, horse-riding, and cycling to paddle boarding. The Minoan Palace at Knossos, about 28 kilometres away, is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites on the island, with Knossos sometimes thought to be the oldest European city, dating back to the Bronze Age.
