Formerly known as the Dom Pedro Meia Praia Beach Club, the Dom Pedro Lagos Beach Club enjoys an enviable location just 100m from the 3km long Meia Praia beach. The ever popular resort of Lagos with its huge selection of bars and restaurants set around the marina is just 2km away.
The Dom Pedro Lagos Beach Club hotel is a pretty informal sort of place. If you’re not at the beach, relax around the pool with that book you’ve been meaning to read for ages. Children have their own pool where they can play safely. Grab a beer or a snack at the Bar Atlantico which is open from 9am to 11pm.
There’s a choice of studios and apartments so self-catering is the order of the day here although, with such a choice of restaurants to suit every taste and budget close at hand, our guess is that you’ll eat out more often than not!
When your accommodation is right on one of the best beaches in the area you might find it difficult to tear yourself away from your sunbed but it’s worth the effort. As well as being a busy resort, Lagos itself is a lovely old walled town complete with a castle with watchtowers, Castelo dos Governadores. Take the pleasant walk out to the lighthouse at Ponta da Piedade from where you can enjoy stunning views over the town and surrounding coastline.
You’ll find a number of interesting museums and old churches wherever you go. The area boasts a range of other activities such as horse riding and climbing centres or why not try learning to surf? Allow at least half a day to see the best of the coastline on one of the many boat trips that are on offer. You might even see some dolphins!
