Owned by the famous Barcelo Hotel Group, Occidental Lanzarote Mar is one of the most impressive hotels in the Lanzarote area. Tucked away in the peaceful suburb of Costa Teguise, the hotel is located just 10 minutes away from the airport, while the capital Arrecife is just six kilometres away. It is a prime spot for a city adventure for families and couples alike. It’s not just the location and wonderful surroundings that appeal – the facilities in the hotel do not disappoint either. There are 442 rooms to choose from, all of which have been recently renovated with modern amenities.
The Occidental Lanzarote Mar has no less than three adult swimming pools, as well as two children’s pools, and a kids’ clubs. The Las Palmeras Restaurant is a buffet restaurant and a great place to sample local cuisine, while the Mediterranean is an á la carte restaurant providing a great backdrop for luxury dining. Born of fire and lava, Lanzarote is the northernmost island of the Canaries, and the Windy Island has plenty to explore and discover. The Occidental Lanzarote Mar Hotel is a mere 800 metres from the beachfront and Playa del Ancla Beach. You could also take the free shuttle bus around two and half kilometres to Las Cucharas, where you will find much larger beaches, as well as enjoying some excellent nightlife.
Not far from the hotel you can enjoy a spot of Calipso diving, and you should definitely take a hiking expedition up Montaña Corona. It might only be around 200 metres high, but the pathway can be tricky and hard to navigate. Be sure to take care when trekking and remember that the summit offers some incredibly rewarding views of the island. Teguise Market and Teguise Museum offer the chance for some outdoor souvenir shopping and a splash of culture as well. The hotel also offers excursions to the north, southern, and central areas of the island.
