With its superb location and huge range of facilities, the 4-star Pestana Viking Beach & Golf Resort is a great choice for your holiday to the Algarve. Situated between Albufeira and Carvoeiro, it overlooks and has direct access to, the beautiful Senora da Rocha beach. If you can tear yourself away, there’s a free shuttle service to the nearby village of Armação de Përa.
When you wake in the mornings you’ll get a great feeling of space and light as you look out over the ocean. Your days will probably be spent by the huge outdoor saltwater pool (which has a children’s section) although there’s also an indoor pool with a heated whirlpool. You’ll enjoy free access to the nearby Magic Spa with its huge range of treatments (charges apply). If it’s possible to feel guilty about spending too much time relaxing in the sun, why not try horse riding, water sports, basketball, tennis, diving and one of the 8 golf courses in the area? When you stay somewhere like the Pestana Viking Beach it’s tempting just to stay around the hotel but not far away you’ll find some other excellent beaches to explore – Praia Gale (6.5km) and Praia dos Salgados (5km) to name just two. If you have rented a car, then the towns of Pera, Silves (noted for its castle and medieval festival) and Albufeira should be on your list. Travelling with the family? Aqualand Algarve with its high water slides and beach with a wave machine or Zoomarine in Guia will keep the younger members of your party busy for hours! The Chapel of Bones in Alcantaricha is a more unusual stop and if you’re having an evening stroll around Armação de Përa itself call in and have a look at the pretty little church of Igreja Matriz there.
