You’ll find the five star Mitsis Summer Palace Beach Hotel on the southern coast of the island of Kos, just five kilometres from the resort of Kardamena with fabulous views over the Aegean Sea. With an infinity pool and a sandy beach, you’ll enjoy fresh fruit and iced water and of course, free umbrellas and sunbeds. Away from the beach, there’s plenty to see and do including the Aquatica Water Park, the Temple of Apollo and the Folklore and Maritime Museum, which are all worth a visit. If you go into Kos Town itself you can enjoy all the facilities of the sister hotel, Mitsis Ramira Beach. Back at the Mitsis Summer Palace Beach Hotel you’ll find a great variety of facilities and activities and comfortable rooms decorated in attractive shades of blue with stylish floor tiles.
Children will love the Mitsis Summer Palace. They have their own pool and a water park with giant slides and in the kids’ club (four to 12 years) they can take part in supervised arts and crafts and games leaving parents free to enjoy the daily entertainment programme. If you’re the active type, there’s beach football, two tennis courts, beach volleyball, pedalo and canoe hire and complimentary use of the hotel’s gym. Slightly more relaxing are the art lessons, dance classes, bridge and table tennis. The hotel has two restaurants offering international, Turkish and Italian cuisine, a snack restaurant and no less than four bars including one directly on the beach. After dinner, take in a show or join in a Greek night or amaze everyone with your karaoke skills.
Surroundings
Although Kos these days is best known as a holiday island, scratch the surface and you’ll find there’s a lot of history to be discovered. Kardamena, where you’ll find the Mitsis Summer Palace Beach Hotel, certainly has plenty of bars and restaurants today but it’s built on the site of an important pre-Christian town and the Temple of Apollo has recently been excavated. Kos Old Town is dominated by the 15th century Naratzia Castle and don’t miss the thermal springs in the southeastern corner of the island. It was on Kos that Hippocrates taught his early medicine to his students. But if you’re with the family, you’ll most likely be mad to visit the Aquatica Water Park or go on one of the many boat trips around the island.
