The Pestana Vila Sol Hotel is an exclusive 5-star hotel set in a secluded position amid gardens and lakes just inland from the famous resort of Vilamoura. If you’re looking for a mixture of sunshine and sports, look no further! The Pestana Vila Sol Hotel’s 27 hole golf course designed by the famous Donald Steel is internationally recognised and there’s also an air-conditioned gym, tennis courts, bike rental and a games room as well as two outdoor freshwater pools and a heated indoor pool. If you feel the beach calling you’ll find a convenient free shuttle service (June-September).
Couples and families will feel equally at home here. If your children are aged 4-12 years they’ll be welcome at the Kids Club to join in arts and crafts and games and make new friends in the playground. As you’d expect, there’s a spa with a huge range of pampering treatments offered at extra cost. Dolphin viewing tours are offered where, if you’re in luck, these amazing creatures will swim alongside your boat. Venture a little further afield and you’ll find plenty of more unusual things to see and do. Cerro da Vila archaeological museum has a ruined Roman Villa with bathhouses and mosaics. Well worth a visit. The Quarteira River has fishing and hiking trails along its banks. At the fish market – Mercado do Piexe – foodies will see some of the incredible variety of fish that are found in the local waters.
