The Mitsis Ramira Beach is a gorgeous 5-star hotel set right on the beach amid well-tended gardens. It’s only 3.5 kilometres from Kos Town where you’ll find the harbour and a wealth of boutiques and shops for those essential holiday souvenirs. Days out could include a Jeep Safari or a day at the Lido Waterpark and, as a guest of the Mitsis Hotel Group, you can also use the facilities of their sister hotel in Kardamena on the southern side of the island. The rooms at the Mitsis Ramira Beach are well appointed and nearly all have pool or sea views over Kos bay.
The hotel was built with families in mind and no matter how old your children are they’re sure to have a great time here. The Mini Club keeps younger children (4-7 years) entertained during the day leaving you free to relax on the beach or by one of the three swimming pools (sunbeds and towels are provided free of charge) or join in the entertainment programme. At the Mitsis Ramira Beach you can try art lessons, fishing lessons or learn to swim. If they don’t appeal, there’s archery, beach soccer or volleyball, canoeing, pedalos, petanque, tennis courts, table tennis and a water sports centre to mention just a few of the activities on offer. You won’t be disappointed with the dining options at the Ramira Beach. There’s a main buffet restaurant with regular theme nights plus a Chinese and an Italian restaurant. There are no less than five bars including a pool bar and a cocktail bar.
Although Kos these days is best known as a holiday island, scratch the surface and you’ll find there’s a lot of history to be discovered. Kos Old Town is dominated by the 15th century Naratzia Castle and don’t miss the thermal springs in the southeastern corner of the island. Kardamena, on the southern coast has plenty of bars and restaurants today but it’s built on the site of an important pre-Christian town and the Temple of Apollo has recently been excavated there. It was on Kos that Hippocrates taught his early medicine to his students. And did you know that Kos is renowned for its wines? Although they’re a bit of a mouthful when you’re telling the taxi driver where to go, Triantafyllopoulos and Hatziemmanouil Wineries are well worth a visit! If you’re with the family, you’ll most likely be made to visit the Aquatica or Lido Water Parks or go on one of the many boat trips around the island.
