The five-star Sentido Orka Lotus Beach Hotel is situated one kilometre from the centre of the quiet, family-friendly resort of Iclemer, which is just seven kilometres away from its busier neighbour, Marmaris. The property is surrounded by tropical gardens and is set right on the sands of a golden beach – a huge 650 metres stretch which is reserved for hotel guests. The hotel is in a prime position to enjoy everything the area has to offer, from the nearby Atlantis Water Park to the fascinating Temple of Artemis while boat trips to the likes of Cleopatra Island, Dalyan and Rhodes are always popular. There are any number of local bars and restaurants but if you’re looking for exciting nightlife you’ll need to head for need for Bar Street in Marmaris, where open-air clubs and music venues provide entertainment throughout the night. Icemeler is a popular spot for diving and sailing – boat trips to nearby coves, bays and islands depart from here daily. One of our favourite trips is to Dalyan, famous for its rock tombs, loggerhead turtles and mud baths. Tourists in search of a little culture and a slower pace of life are also well catered for in Marmaris. Start your exploration of Ottoman history and architecture at Marmaris Castle – a 16th-century fortification, forged of stone for Suleiman the Magnificent. Now a museum of archaeological history and artefacts, it also offers splendid views over the marina and city. Wind back down to town through the narrow, cobbled lanes of the old town and admire the traditional architecture of old Turkish houses and buildings, before stopping off for a cool drink in a local café or bar.
